840 Stadera

Desks from Cassina, Designed by Franco Albini

Product description

Concept

The research and development carried out on the projects by the first Italian architect to enter the Cassina I Maestri Collection continues with the presentation of a writing table with a strong visual impact.
Stadera was created by Franco Albini for the Marcenaro’s house in Genoa in 1954. The desk, with a single leg, plays on the balance created by the irregularity of the arms like the Roman pendulum scale from which it takes its name. The result is apparent instability in its form, a fil rouge in the work of this Milanese architect.
The peculiarity of Stadera lies in the richness of materials for its top which include the wood essences of the Albini collection, natural ash, ash stained black and Canaletto walnut, in addition to Carrara white marble and cement. It is also possible to cover the encased part of the table top with a selection of colours of saddle leather making the piece a pleasure to touch.

Measurements: 143x63/83xh.76cm (h.74cm for the marble version).

Materials:
frame: steel painted matt black
top: wood (natural ash, ash stained black and Canaletto walnut), Carrara white marble or cement accessory top cover: saddle leather from the Cassina collection.
