Sedus sweetspot – lounge range for forging new links
Social networking and good communication are two of the most important aspects behind successful teamwork in the modern workplace. However, all too often companies do not offer an adequate framework for this kind of staff interaction. With its lounge range “sweetspot”, Sedus has successfully bridged the gap between functionality and comfort. The product family which, in addition to lounge chairs, also comprises two table models was created by the designer Judith Daur. The goal behind this design was to forge a link between concentrated working and relaxed communication in an appropriate environment.
“sweetspot” can be used in numerous corporate areas and enables any site to be transformed into a meeting point for relaxed and creative staff interaction. In addition to its universal application possibilities, this lounge chair offers a sitting experience with a level of comfort which goes far beyond that of classic conference furniture. “It's obvious even at first sight that this chair gives users a warm and comfortable reception”, explained the designer, Judith Daur. Thanks to the integrated gas lift mechanism and seat foam, “sweetspot” boasts a particularly soft and comfortable rest zone and conveys a sense of virtual weightlessness. The slim lines of the five-star base serve to further enhance this effect.
It is the unique sitting ergonomics which set “sweetspot” apart from other office lounge furniture. The collar-shaped armrest acts like an inviting gesture and underscores the informal and relaxed character; meeting situations in central office areas can be converted into stimulating zones for intellectual exchanges in a matter of seconds. Despite its fundamental focus on comfort, “sweetspot” is far more than just a chill out chair; its slightly raised and angled seat means users auto- matically assume an alert and concentrated posture – the key requirement for a fruitful working environment. Since the back- and armrests are at the same height, almost the entire body can be swivelled around, which also offers the advantage of being able to react more directly to others. According to Judith Daur, with this chair meetings take on a far more open character, as after all, “physical freedom is the basis for intellectual freedom”.
The “sweetspot” lounge range is a product family which can be tailored to meet individual company requirements as the materials and colours can be configured independently of each other. The two upholstery elements have both a practical and aesthetic function. They give a sense of structure to the overall look of the shell and colours can be selected to create striking and contrasting accents. The “sweetspot” family has been extended to include tables which also incorporate a five-star base. With these, drinks and other items can be placed within easy reach. But that's not all; laptops and tablet PCs can also be used from here to provide a temporary alternative to the habitual workplace, regardless of the situation.
The wide range of possible finishes and the various possibilities for ar- ranging and combining tables and seating mean that the sky really is the limit when it comes to customising designs. Whether as a waiting area in receptions, as lounge furniture in the cafeteria, a meeting corner in the central office area or as a retreat for concentrated working outside of the familiar office environment: The lounge range “sweetspot” offers customised solutions for furnishing and satisfying specific company needs and attractively combines the sitting ergonomics and comfort of office seating with the elegance of a lifestyle product.
