Product description
Concept
Yard, designed by Francesco Rota, aims at better matching the upholstered units with the supporting and holding unit. The concept aims at finding the perfect matching between systems, Lema core business, and the sofas. Thus upholstered volumes are perfectly integrated with tops, shelves, small tables and units which used in different positions and configurations, lead to different multi-function compositions.
The structure in metal covered in fabric, is a top supported by feet, jointed through triangle joints, making a support for cushions and arms, besides becoming a useful support for shelves and containers. The wise seat and back size are underlined by a slight tapering making the entire sofa line soft and rounded as well, while used materials (polyurethane and feathers) provide for comfort and the correct proportion between the soft and hard part. The cushion volumes, all coming for a regular parallelepiped shape, are leaning on the supporting top, not entirely hiding it but creating an harmonic contrast easily becoming its main aesthetic features. A supporting top system in different heights and widths, fitted to the structure, nearly shaping a small suspended library. A collection of tables/units is integrated then, which thanks to open and closed volumes, different heights and equipments, is to be used as top or a unit, inside the system, or freestanding as well. In the lounge area, at the centre of the stand, a dormeuse belonging to the Yard system, covered in precious leather: the light structure in metal supports a long cushion, whose visible sewing shapes a modern capitonné patterns, matched with the diamond-shape cushion.
The refined daybed in a precious version in leather with base in bronze varnished metal and the side tables and rear-sofa furniture units. Container-elements for the day, with structure in metal of bronze colour and wooden tops that, by re-interpreting the taste and creativity typical of the industrial design of the ‘60s, re-implement the concept of the collection, conceived with the intention to find a meeting point between systems, integrating the padded part with that envisaged for containment and support. The particular structure of the sofa was in fact conceived not only to hook the new elements but also tops, shelves and containers to always create different multi-purpose compositions.
