Archohm is a reputed architecture and design studio in Noida, the national capital region of India. Archohm was founded by architect Sourabh Gupta, in the new millennium. Today the firm has evolved into a well-known design practice with projects and initiatives addressing a wide array of issues, scales and typologies. From master planning of cities to designing their street signage, from farmer markets to cultural haats, hospitals to hospitality, river fronts to residential projects, Archohm has ventured into almost every typology of projects with ‘design’ as its main focus making it a very versatile firm. Its portfolio now spans across a diversity of sectors that include large public, social, educational, religious and cultural institutions.
Being socially responsible and contextually responsive is ingrained in Archohm’s DNA. The research and design process undertaken relies on extensive brainstorming coupled with intuitive and out-of-the-box approaches that disrupt and impart a mad and fun flavour to each of its works. It promotes the use of pure and indigenous materials in modern contexts, functions, forms and narratives.
Most importantly, Archohm is a multidisciplinary firm with motivated, committed and aligned designers with versatile academic and professional profiles and experience. The studio is constantly seeking directions in contemporary Indian architecture that is perceivably India centric but with global insight. With the philosophy of cross-cultural dialogues, keeping itself updated, the studio is privileged to collaborate with iconic international architecture and design firms for selected projects.. Its active participation in national and international competitions creates new learning experiences apart from providing the opportunity of sharing platforms with fellow competitors and professionals of calibre.
With an office currently in Lucknow and earlier ones in Libya and the Netherlands, studio Archohm is in a continuous state of evolution. True to the vision of design discovery and exposure, it has various activities such as the archoforum-the platform for cross-cultural dialogue, Archotour or the annual expedition to design destinations around the world and the monthly in-house newsletter called the Archometer, it endeavours to promote a culture of living life through design.
Archohm has its own design research wing–a young subset initiative called design factory India. Archohm has also started a design education initiative called the design village, a bespoke and award winning furniture and lifestyle studio called zolijns and a product design label called gomaads. These initiatives co-exist in the same eco-system there by, continue to draw energy and inspiration from one another. The design process therefore, is enriched from this cohesiveness.
The studio actively contributes to both national and international journals, papers, and exhibitions. Archohm has been well encouraged by the design community through various awards, publications and lecture opportunities.
Biography
Sourabh Gupta graduated from the esteemed school of architecture, Cept University at Ahmedabad in India. With the insight provided there by the best in the realm of architecture, coupled with a stint in urban design from Bouwkunde, the acclaimed school of architecture at TU Delft, the Netherlands; and propelled by a compulsive need to travel, explore and design, Sourabh founded his studio - Archohm in 2000.
Having won and executed a series of design competitions and commissions, Archohm has grown considerably in the last decade and a half. Today the firm has evolved into a well-known design practice with projects and initiatives addressing a wide array of issues, scales and typologies. From master planning of cities to designing their street signage, from farmer markets to cultural haats, hospitals to hospitality, river fronts to residential projects, Archohm has ventured into almost every typology of projects with ‘design’ as its main focus making it a very versatile firm.

Having transcribed a full circle with its own design research wing – design factory India, lifestyle boutique – Zolijns, design education and publication extension – the design village, Archohm is almost synonymous with everything in the world of design.

Apart from his contribution to national and international design forums, lectures and publications, Sourabh is the recipient of many national awards and accolades from prestigious bodies like Indian institute of architects, Indian building congress, Indian institute of interior design and many more. Believing in living ‘life through design’, Sourabh enjoys badminton, nusrat fateh ali khan and an occasional hoegaarden. An avid reader and a discerning ‘wanderer’, he is on a perpetual design expedition.
