MEHR üBER CHAN + EAYRS
Merlin Eayrs and Zoe Chan
Profile
Architectural and entrepreneurial duo, Chan + Eayrs is formed of Zoe Chan (British born Chinese) and Merlin Eayrs (English born in Cambridgeshire). Their latest projects include the Herringbone House and New Cross lofts, both located in London. They are now working on a new space in Shoreditch that will come to fruition in the Autumn alongside a new bespoke flat in up-and-coming Lisbon.
They describe their style as ‘Arts and Crafts, meets Japanese modernism, a dash of Wabi-Sabi and Moroccan Earthiness, always expressed with a natural palette of materials’. They buy their own sites, which allows complete creative freedom over each project, and then as trained Architects they collaborate with traditional craftsman and builders to shape the projects into bespoke one off homes. Each house is personally drafted, styled, finished and created by them, one at a time.
They are rare, gem like homes and the success of their projects has garnered a faithful following with those in the know. They are ones to watch, especially for those in the market for a unique and beautiful home.

Zoe Chan
Zoe is British born Chinese and born in London. With a mother in finance and a father in Architecture, Zoe has always had a dual interest in investment and design, which informs her mode of practice. She studied at Westmister School, graduated with the highest first from Cambridge University and studied at the Architectural Association (AA), where she simultaneously started investing in sites for future projects. By the time she graduated from Architecture school, Zoe had accumulated four sites, which was the seed for Chan and Eayrs’ way of working today.
Merlin Eayrs
Merlin is English and born in Cambridgeshire. Growing up in the deep countryside, Merlin has always had an appreciation for natural materials, patina, and the elements. He studied at Oundle School, Inchbald Interior design school and The Architectural Association; his background in Architecture and Interiors enables him to design seamlessly with no strict division between the two.
