The furnishings of the Israeli designer Hagit Pincovici are designed and self-produced in a limited edition; integrating form and structure in an original constructive and aesthetic way and where the high Lombard craftsmanship plays a decisive role.
Hagit Pincovici, born in Tel Aviv in 1978, belongs to the third generation of an Israeli family who dedicated since the sixties to the craft testing of materials, particularly of plexiglass. The family tradition of Hagit Pincovici evolves into a personal interpretation of design during her training in Israel at the “Bezalel Academy of Art and Design” in Jerusalem and in her first years of work in Tel Aviv after her graduation.
The following specialization at the “Domus Academy” in Milan encounters her with the world of Italian design and artisan quality and she develops a personal research based on association between different materials, technology and new formal solutions. Her work immediately draws attention of institutions like the “Milan Triennale,” who invited her to participate in a group exhibition during Salone del Mobile 2009, which was released by several international magazines. The following years her pieces were chosen by companies like “Colé Italian Design Label,” “Miniforms” and stores like “The Future Perfect (New York).”
Hagit Pincovici today lives and works in Italy, between Rome and Milan, where she teaches at “NABA.” Her research continues both with companies and her projects are considered among the examplesmost representative of contemporary design. The “MUDEC” Museum of Cultures, will be exhibiting “Galena” drawers designed for ‘Miniforms’ in 2013 at the exhibition “Sempering” staged in for the “XXI Triennial of Milan” (2 April to 12 September 2016).
The new collections “Metaphysics” and “Eclipse,” presented in Milan at the “Spazio Pontaccio” and “Clan Pontaccio,” express a new milestone in her research and create a bridge between the contemporary and the classic, practicality and beauty, traditional crafts and contemporary technology.
The colors are determined, thin profiles, bold solutions. Aesthetic and functional aspects are closely integrated between them; the structure of the furniture is first isolated, made visible and then integrated and treated as an expressive element of the project. Produced by hand, limited edition by Italian craftsmen, in the heart of the furniture district of Brianza, each piece designed by Hagit Pincovici is the result of a careful combination of the aesthetic requirements of the design, the quality of the materials and the precise realization of every detail.
