Guillaume Marcoux and Olivier Lajeunesse
Profile
Microclimat is a young Montreal-based firm, co-founded in 2013 by Guillaume Marcoux and Olivier Lajeunesse, both graduates of Laval University and members of OAQ. Their vision is grounded in the principle that architecture and the environment in which it evolves are interdependent, perpetually responding to one another in a continuing conversation. One of the strengths of the practice is that it is a construction firm as well as an architecture and design studio. The team’s knowledge of construction enables them to take an idea from the embryonic planning stage to delivery, ensuring continuity and cohesion, and facilitating the exchanges between all the collaborators throughout the process.
Through the exploration of “microdevelopment,” a concept that can be reflected in an area as small as a backyard, Microclimat seeks to realize the full potential of underused city spaces by rethinking them as liveable and adapted to urban life. This outlook offers city dwellers alternatives to traditional residences, and provides long-term architectural innovation that is adapted to its context.
Until recently the firm’s experience was primarily in residential projects, but Microclimat has now expanded into commercial architecture, and brings together under one roof all of the expertise required for complete projects, be they residential, commercial or public.
TEAM:
Guillaume Marcoux - Founding partner, Architect OAQ
Olivier Lajeunesse - Travers - Founding partner, Architect OAQ
David Giraldeau - Architect OAQ
Maggie Cabana - Intern architect (M.Arch)
