Ruth Carlile

Following my graduation in July 2006 from Central St Martins, I extended my business skills and acumen through launching my own venture designing and making bespoke wallpapers. Managing my budget and working to tight deadlines for clients and trade fairs has helped me identify my objective of gaining a business orientated design role. I have used my interpersonal skills to build great relationships with retailers, clients, and suppliers. Competent in Photoshop and Illustrator, I also have a working understanding of InDesign, and am totally comfortable on a Mac. I am proficient at working to tight briefs and to short deadlines. I have a keen eye for detail and a passion for interiors and particulary the decorated surface. I have strong design history knowledge and a keen eye for a hot trend. I am seeking a role in which I can use my design training as part of a dynamic organisation. I am particularly interested in roles focussed around commercial wall design, alongside domestic print. My skills and strong work ethic allow me to provide the support and flair needed in a busy design environment. Highly creative, with innovative yet steady ideas, I am interested in every aspect of the print process and offer some knowledge of manufacture. I have gained good press recognition for my innovative and beautiful work, including the prestigious ‘Decorator’s Notes’ section of “House and Garden” magazine. A team player, and keen to learn, I am a level-headed communicator with excellent presentation skills. Seeking the support of a strong organisation, I am now focussed on making my career, and the company I am involved in, the absolute best it can be.
