SA lab is now one of the top young architectural practices in Russia.
We are working on the edge of architecture and IT to develop projects of many scales from tiny houses to revitalization of urban areas.
We specialize in adaptive architecture, reacting to climate, social, urban planning and other parameters.
We stick to experimental approach in architectural design, using cutting edge technologies in real-life projects both in physical and virtual space.
We work in the field of architecture with computational design approach and digital fabrication.
We design in Russia, Europe, China and even on the Moon.
Biography
SA lab was founded in 2014 by the architects Stepan Kukharskiy and Alina Chereyskaya. The practice has become recognizable for its experimental approach. SA lab architects mix technology, materials and algorithms to design flexible architecture, that transforms in time - prefabricated houses, virtual pavilions or discrete structures.
The partners frequently become invited speakers at conferences, forums and workshops. In addition to this, the SA lab team created a media, that popularizes the use of computational design, AR, VR, robots, 3D printing, AI in architecture.
In 2020, when architectural events and exhibitions were postponed or cancelled and the lockdown happened, SA lab with ARCHSLON and Synthesis initiated the first online architectural festival in Russia. It connected young architects from 15 countries and 76 countries.
