The personality is a strong currency

After 10 years working with creative direction for other design studios Danish designer Sara Martinsen has started her own studio called SARA. Sara is a furniture designer by education and her knowledge about construction and materials has given her the opportunity to work with furniture, brand art and larger scale interior projects. Latest project finalized is the interior for Universal Music Denmark.

Here everything except for bearing walls and façade was removed in an old classified building from 1920 in the heart of Copenhagen and the result was a 1200 m2 work space with room for release concerts, elegant conference rooms and a stunning audio room with custom designed acoustic walls. ‘My strength is that I have the skillset and the interest to go from very small scale objects to larger scale interior projects’’ Sara says and continues This means that I have an eye on all details from the corner detail on the reception counter to the whole space. I find a big joy in zooming in an out like that’. I find that the personality and the finger touch when making interior projects is a strong currency. There is always a relevant story for me to tell and I love to translate this and give people a strong and authentic memory to take with them’.

Biography
Sara Martinsen. Designer. 38 years old. Copenhagen, Denmark. Formerly senior designer and creative director at Søren Rose Studio. Here she was responsible for the creative team while designing furnitures for manufacturing brands like De La Espada, Muuto and Menu. Before starting on her own she was head of product design at Johannes Torpe Studios where she designed furnitures for hospitality projects and was part of a band art project at Nike headquarters in Beijing, China.
