Founded in 2006 by Ralph Nauta and Lonneke Gordijn, Studio DRIFT aspires timeless design combing knowledge and intuition, nature and science fiction, fantasy and interaction. DRIFT aims to make original and passionate designs, using the best materials and the latest production technologies.
The works of Lonneke and Ralph expresses their search for equilibrium between nature and science. Designs such as FRAGILE FUTURE and FLYLIGHT emboss the combination of nature and science portraying the absolute beauty, fragility and timelessness of it.
Like the romanticists during the Industrial Revolution, Lonneke and Ralph react to the digital revolution by making work that projects a feeling of hovering, gliding, floating, lightness, illumination and state of zero gravity. By design, they try to capture all these non-material sensations that they miss in daily life.
