17.000 sq.mt exhibiting spaces, 130.000 visitors and over 2.270 registered journalists only in 2017, theme projects, museum-like installations, national pavilions, solo or collective exhibitions, large consolidated companies but also young innovative companies, start ups, independent authors.

All of this at SUPERSTUDIO, iconic place of design in Milan, the pioneer of the Fuorisalone phenomenon in the district, the most visited and sought-after place of the Tortona District since 2000. With SUPERDESIGN SHOW project, (that continues and takes over the success of the Temporary Museum for New Design) Superstudio pursues its mission on quality, excellence, research continuing the original format “less fair, more museum” launched in 2009. The forthcoming edition of the project by Gisella Borioli, chooses ONLY THE BEST as its manifesto: the general set up changes valuing more the identities and the diversity of the present companies, a more eclectic way to communicate is created, visibility of each exhibitor is increased, in addition are theme collective exhibitions that suggest trends.

Protagonist of this itinerary, back as art director of the event, Giulio Cappellini, also acting as curator of the SUPERLOFT collective exhibition, an imaginary yet real home, cool and eclectic, cultured and elegant, with the participation of the most interesting protagonists of the Made in Italy design and the masters craftsmen who can create beautiful and precious things. A house that combines side-by-side iconic pieces by the most important furniture brands, in a synergy between contemporaneity and vision. Every space in a hypothetical home where a family could actually live will be explored. From the living to the wellness room, from the kitchen to the bedrooms, from verandas to service spaces. A proper superloft, in which the idea is to create an International home: that could be placed in Paris as well as in New York in Berlin or Shanghai. “Now, more than ever, people want to live in a home that reflects their tradition, culture, identity. I tried to create a wide-ranging space that is not just a status to exhibit but describes the pleasure of living in cosy spaces, surrounded by beautiful objects, now discreet and declared, that become essential presences in our existence” Giulio Cappellini.

Superdesign Show is research and innovation also on contemporary materials, sustainability and new technologies with the two projects, Materials Village and Smart City, curated by Material ConneXion Italia, that are back, expanded and renovated, for the edition 2018. Materials Village, a successful and by now consolidated format, for the fourth year in a row at Superstudio Più, is a hub of events and initiatives dedicated to experimentation and promotion of the most performant materials, trends and innovative proposals. Various installations dedicated to the theme of sustainability and materials are located in the Art Garden, of which Studio Marco Piva’s installation stands out.

Impossible talking about new materials without developing also the current issue of the Smart Cities. Under the direction of the architect Giulio Ceppi, the second edition of the event-exhibition “Smart City: Materials, Technologies & People” expands this year taking up 1000 sq.mt. The exhibition suggests a reflection on the theme of the intelligent city starting from its citizens introducing materials and technologies solutions that can be applied to the most significant changes in the field of Advanced Building and Infrastructures, Connected City, Smart Living, Smart People, Sustainability and Circular City, Integrated Mobility, Food Policies and Urban Agriculture. The exhibition will launch along with the Design Week and will stay on show for one month so as to be visited during the Food Week in May. This thanks to Superstudio hospitality and partnership with Seeds&Chips, international hub on Food Innovation.

SELECTED OBJECTS is back, a section dedicated to small innovative companies and start-ups. The PARADES, a sequence of selected objects by the best international production run through the common spaces based on themes, such as Linear Light, lighting proposals with minimal and graphic marking elements. On the Roof Garden, designed by the artist Michelangelo Pistoletto, the Under the Sky installation, innovative outdoor furniture and elements, and the usual Superstudio Lounge open every evening for drinks during sunset.

Superdesign Show also welcomes young talents, new brands and highlights new trends, through theme exhibitions at Superdesign Extension, at Superstudio 13, in via Forcella 13, the well-known photography studios, likewise transformed into exhibiting spaces:



-Freedom Design Exhibit & Market: design “at large” and pop–store with possibility to sell to the public. Selected interesting projects, proposals, prototypes, handcrafted or industrial objects.



-Design on frame: photography exhibition of various authors with subjects related to design or architecture. Recent or unpublished images.

Lounge, Rooftop, meeting room, press office, coordinated image, common spaces, garden, restaurants and much more.
