Profile
TDO architecture was founded in 2010 with a one-off commission for Wallpaper* Magazine. The studio has since grown to design and deliver exceptional buildings and collaborations at a variety of scales with a team of carefully selected and talented designers.
Projects range from small bespoke domestic commissions such as Forest Pond House, a timber-framed meditation space and children’s den cantilevered over a garden pond, to builds of a larger scale and ambition such as Fab House, a low-cost modular townhouse designed for Urban Splash and Places for People. All projects are characterised by simple forms, intersecting geometries and exposed materials.
Designs are driven by a commitment to designing out waste by maximising simple standard sheets or components, as illustrated in TDO’s remodeling of The Modern House’s London office, which incorporates a sophisticated Valchromat demountable desk structure which can be adjusted in a sequence of simple moves to completely change the workspace into a Salon setting.
The founding partners work together on the concept design phase of each project, reflecting a unique, collaborative working relationship extending back to their shared training and particular vision for the highest quality 21st century architecture. Paired with a focus on client relationships the results are buildings that exceed expectations as well as numerous collaborations with leading artists and designers in parallel fields.
