Housed in the iconic Wurlitzer building that was designed in 1926 by architect and Detroit native, Robert Finn, The Siren Hotel is a uniquely distinctive property featuring 6 food & beverage spaces, 2 retail shops, a rooftop with panoramic views, and 106 guest rooms, spread across 55,000 square feet.
The name, The Siren, is inspired by the Greek mythological creature and acts as a metaphor —calling people back to the city of Detroit. It is the second in an expanding collection of hotels by design development firm, ASH NYC, following The Dean in Providence, RI and seeks to be an anchor within the bustling, diverse, cultural metropolis for visitors and locals alike.
Inspired by the old-world hotels traditionally found in the Motor City, ASH NYC thoughtfully preserved the Italian renaissance-style architecture in the building while adding a contemporary touch.
Much of the building’s original features have been restored including; the travertine floors, original terra-cotta signs, and plaster detailing on the historic ceilings that subtly informed the display of 18th and 19th century Italian antiques in the lobby.
The Siren Hotel also features ASH’s traditional aesthetic — warm and clean with a pallet of soft whites, very pale and fleshy pinks, deep, rich oxblood, and crisp navy - and boasts a mix of custom and vintage furniture, design pieces from ASH’s own collection, and works sourced from designers based in Detroit and worldwide.
The Wurlitzer building has a rich history that has played an intrinsic role in Detroit’s cultural scene – commissioned by Rudolph Wurlitzer, known for trading musical instruments in Europe, the property has become synonymous with music and sound throughout the years. Once representative of the most sophisticated musical instruments and soundtracks of the past, the Wurlitzer is now home to a new, musical soul—The Siren Hotel.
