Beauty Shoppe, the innovative Pittsburgh-based coworking company that is setting a new standard for a service-oriented workplace, together with Hippeus Capital and Feenix Venture Partners, today announces the opening of its most ambitious offering: Beauty Shoppe Pitt Building located at 213 Smithfield Street in Downtown Pittsburgh. Encompassing 12,000 square feet within an iconic 100-year-old building, the new design-forward, collaborative workspace is Beauty Shoppe’s first Downtown location and introduces an unparalleled work experience in one of the city’s most dynamic neighborhoods.
“With Beauty Shoppe Pitt Building we set out to create an elevated coworking concept with an eye toward the seasoned Downtown business community. We are thrilled to open our doors for new members and provide a truly elegant work environment paired with tailored amenities and obsessive service for every individual’s needs,” said Matthew Ciccone, CEO of Beauty Shoppe. “This is an important milestone for Beauty Shoppe, not only because we’re opening doors at our fifth Pittsburgh-based offering, but also because we’re fulfilling a need for entrepreneurs and professionals who have been priced out of quality Downtown spaces.”
Located at the place where the best in business, arts and culture collide, Beauty Shoppe Pitt Building is filling a need for businesses in the city’s most established business hub. The space combines the hospitality of a boutique hotel with the services of a world-class professional and meeting hub all in one exquisitely designed environment. Originally constructed in 1918 by local architect Edward B. Lee as the headquarters of the Americus Republican Club of Pittsburgh, The Pitt Building is an Art Deco gem with soaring 12-foot-tall ceilings, architectural columns and grand interior spaces. Beauty Shoppe has drawn inspiration from the building’s rich history as a meeting place to thoughtfully reimagine the expansive second and third floors with luxurious interiors, including lush jewel-toned fabrics, brass fixtures, and bold colors that are sure to be a catalyst for interaction and creativity. True to the company’s commitment to quality and honoring community, Beauty Shoppe worked with local artisans on the restoration and partnered with Homewood-based furniture maker Bones & All on custom furnishings.
Members enter the coworking space through an intimate lobby on the ground floor, where a private elevator transports them upstairs. The entire second floor is dedicated to coworking, including open communal spaces and private offices, with a modular lounge environment for hosting meetings and events, and a variety of areas for members to create and ideate – including a generous offering of breakout spaces, conference rooms, traditional desks, communal tables and curated lounge areas. In addition to a communal kitchen and sound-resistant phone booths, the second floor also features a grand executive boardroom with a 15-foot-long table custom crafted by Bones & All. The third floor has been reborn as a raw flexible space that presents a rare opportunity for one or more companies to build out a private office that comes with all of the services and perks of Beauty Shoppe membership.
Every square inch of Beauty Shoppe Pitt Building has been thoughtfully designed and programmed to promote a productive, genuine work experience for individuals and teams, from seamlessly integrated technologies including Crestron Conferencing equipment to ergonomic seating that ensures the highest level of comfort. Members will also enjoy hospitality service delivered by an expert staff that can help with everything from arranging catered lunches for an important meeting to booking a room in another Beauty Shoppe location, to coordinating travel and accommodations for guests. Beauty Shoppe is known for its personal touch and thoughtful staff that go above and beyond to ensure a beautiful experience for each individual member, and the Pitt Building is no exception.
As part of the community, those who call Beauty Shoppe Pitt Building their office home will also benefit from a forthcoming menu of member and community programs tailored specifically for Downtown creators, makers and innovators. Exclusive programming includes graduate-level courses, lectures and networking events from Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College and yoga, wellness and fitness created in collaboration with Fitt.co, among other specialized offerings designed to support professionals in meeting their creative and professional goals.
“Beauty Shoppe believes in a richer workday – and that means creating more than just a beautiful space. We have spent a great deal of time crafting the feeling and experience for Beauty Shoppe Pitt Building with highly intentional programming that will facilitate interaction, connectivity and the essence of true work,” said Marissa Hozella, location manager at Beauty Shoppe Pitt Building. “We are incredibly excited to get to know our new members and support them in growing their businesses here in Downtown Pittsburgh.”
Come this fall, Beauty Shoppe will expand its offering with the opening of a 3,500-square-foot ancillary event space called Warehouse, located adjacent to the Pitt Building. The space will host a full calendar of activations and will also be available to rent, with priority reservations granted to members. Coworking, Desk and Office Memberships are available for monthly rental on a first come, first served basis and start at $250 per month. All members enjoy 24/7/365 access to secure work and meeting space, Beauty Shoppe office hospitality services, and priority event space booking. Memberships for both individuals and companies include reciprocal access to work and meeting areas across the national Beauty Shoppe network.
