The challenge set to Cini&Nils when it was called in to illuminate the rooms occupied by the government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and related conference rooms was how to design interiors that would be technically functional in terms of luminous yield and in compliance with standards, without compromising on the need for a welcoming atmosphere.

Multipurpose rooms that are used by government institutions require technically perfect solutions of lighting and darkening. Careful consideration must also be given to the condition of the ceilings, which are usually those of historical buildings. In this case, the government rooms have visible beams, which rules out the option of installing suspended lighting systems. The lighting design had no option but to use a cable-mounted system with a high-performance luminous yield. It is no coincidence that the job was entrusted to Cini&Nils, the firm that revolutionised the market in 1994, when it launched Tenso, the world’s first 230V cable-mounted lighting system (on parallel cables set 28 cm apart).

Tenso is simply the ideal solution for meeting technical lighting challenges in rooms with high and very high ceilings, no ceilings at all, beams, arches, boxed ceilings, frescos or large spans, such as churches, cinemas, libraries, museums, open spaces and showrooms. Tenso can be used to create spans that are horizontal, vertical, sloped, set on a zigzag, going around a corner, polygonal and at different levels.

Another delicate issue for every public structure is the huge amount of electricity that is consumes to keep adequate lighting levels in the functional areas. In this case, the client was aware that the lamps that had been in use had been consuming prodigious amounts of energy every year.

The government of Luxembourg seized the opportunity offered by Cini&Nils to provide a re-lamping service, which consists of replacing the existing bulbs with the newest technological generation of products. Typically, these have a low energy consumption and provide an excellent quality of light, all without compromising on great design.
The existing fittings were replaced with 115 new Tensoled 33W – 2,700K - CRI=90 luminaires.
The lighting body can be installed to point downwards, to provide direct light, or upwards, for indirect light, and the direction can be changed whenever the need arises, since the New Tensoled is designed so that the lighting body can be rotated through about 310°.
New Tensoled is fitted with a built-in dimmer-controlled power unit that enables the light flow to be adjusted to suit the amount needed and blends perfectly with the luminaire’s design.
Also available in a DMX version for integrated domotic management of the entire lighting system.

Using the re-lamping service offered by Cini&Nils, New Tensoled can replace any bulb in existing installations.

Cini&Nils was established in 1969 and enjoys international recognition for its design, its production Made in Italy, its research and the care it pays to every detail. The aims that Cini&Nils sets itself today are focused on producing lighting design using nothing but LED technology, both for its decorative lighting and for its architectural ranges, such as Tenso (new Tensoled), and expanding towards new international and contract markets.
The firm’s artistic output features a range that pays attention to environmental sustainability and respect for humankind. Accuracy, care for details and elegance are the constants that have always been our hallmarks, passed on from one project to the next and contributing to creating collections of innovation for style and technology.
