The protagonist for this staircase is natural iron, simply oxidized by hand to obtain a ‘’spotted’’ effect.
This project involved a kind of manufacture typical of heavy carpentry. Metal sheets were chosen with a thickness of 15 mm, using them as if they were sheets, cutting them with laser and joining one to the other. A game of grafts and joints in a structure almost welding free, composed as if it was a Meccano game.
For the wall covering Boiserie, délabré Iron B was chosen, a De Castelli’s more homogeneous finishing compared to the staircase material. In this case, what is interesting is the solution for covering
fire-fighting appliances with concealed doors. The internal glass of the staircase also acts as a support for iron handrails. Glass, iron and stone coexist and intersect to create a unitary structure.
