Hawkins\Brown was appointed by Oxford University to masterplan the core of the Science Area looking at creating new pedestrian friendly spaces, resolving servicing and parking, and establishing the envelope for new science buildings.
Following a limited competition, Hawkins\Brown was appointed to design and construct the first phase of the development - an innovative, research based building for the Department of Biochemistry. This new building brings together European-wide researchers into Bioinformatics, Gene Cultures and Biochemistry working in a 24 hour networked environment.
