Communication planning - two access roads
The plot is surrounded by a road on both sides. The land is sloping continuously, four metres downward from the north to the south. The design process started with planning the communication and connecting the two access roads. The architect wanted the building to be accessible from the ground floor and garage level.
‘Thanks to the unique layout of the land, the entrance to the plot is on both sides and together it forms a so-called "flyover" through the property - from the south, from the beach and from the north. The house itself consists of three floors: the basement, which is the technical part, the ground floor, where I designed the open space and bedrooms for children, as well as for guests, and the floor for the owners' bedrooms, wardrobe and bathroom. Each of the parts is one compact block, looking like boxes overlapping one another. I wanted to keep the impression of the solids not penetrating. One, mutual tension is the black, entrance roof’- describes his project Marcin Tomaszewski, an architect from REFORM Architekt studio.
Design from scratch
The existing house was demolished and created from scratch. The clients' assumption was the dark elevation of the house. This guideline was the main point of inspiration for the architect. Also the directions of the world and directing all rooms of the house towards the lake. Basically, the body was created as a result of combining the functions that the building was supposed to have. The lighting of the terrace and the swimming pool were additional assumptions which enriched the design.
‘The most important thing in this case is the functions, the floor guidelines. The architecture of the building has become a complement to the whole. The sharpness and guidelines form the architecture. The rest is related to my design style, my predilection for cubicles, constant movements and much more’. - architect Marcin Tomaszewski reveals.
The materials used are Alucobond black gloss, concrete plaster and glass. Traditional technology was used - reinforced concrete walls and pillars and filling with Porotherm - i.e. ceramic hollow blocks, which are characterized by excellent technical parameters, facilitating a fairly fast method of construction.
