"We are interested in the house as an essential tool for living in our time ..."
Charles Eames.
Our scope for architectural production is based in the city of Alta Gracia, located in the Mediterranean province of Argentina. A mountain city with a very marked in the nineteenth century by the arrival of the train and infrastructure steel and sheet Hispanic Jesuit genesis.
MEMORY AND INFRINGEMENT
A timeless container that is based on the semi-urban fabric as an artificial element that only seeks to contemplate the environment and so also the environment looking contemplates this. A contemporary mode its limits evoke the old houses built in the English metal industrial era.
SPACE
Airy rooms, without fanfare . What matters is the object interaction with their environment. The gaps raise the eternal tension between the natural and the human impact .
Located in the western part of the city of Alta Gracia, in a peripheral area of high environmental quality. On a plot of 12x50 party adopts a compact, prioritizing good natural light and views of the mountains and creek. The level of support is above 2.5 meters with respect to the sidewalk, this allowed generate large spans without prejudice privacy.
Social areas are linked to the gaps on the dividing north and the bedrooms are slightly separated from the dividing south. Thus the spatial continuity between the common areas of housing and seeks to integrate land uses between inside and outside.
The main materials used are rustic concrete on the top and black metal in the side walls, intended to minimize maintenance of housing was decisive in the choice of materiality.
TECHNICAL REPORT
The supporting structure is solved with continuous common brick walls, supported on concrete foundations and metal columns at corner windows. The flat roof was executed in rustic concrete.
In order to minimize the impact of moisture, as it is an area with lots of greenery and little sunlight, it was decided to take the peripheral walls in black metal. The carpenters are natural aluminum combining mobile and fixed panels. The interiors have granite floors and kitchen and bathroom areas are covered in mosaic tiles.
Consistency and structural materials were sought according to local resources and techniques.
REFLECTION ON THE MODES OF PRODUCTION
The house has no specific clients, was constructed for the purpose of real estate market, where the challenge was to raise a more proactive idea how critical the wicked ways of estate production posed to housing as an object of profitable consumption.
