The headquarters of Alcatel-Lucent Italia constitutes the main core of the Energy Park technology park in Vimercate, just outside Milan. The campus extends across 33,000 sq m, 7,000 of which are occupied by the research and development laboratories of the Franco-American multinational, leader in the sector of advanced networking and telecommunications technologies.
The building complex hosts over 1000 employees, including numerous researchers, and is articulated across five block-like volumes linked together by an ample central atrium with sinuous facades and generous spatial layouts.
Enhanced by striking technological connotations, the architecture was conceived according to the most innovative principles of ecological sustainability. The five building volumes host open-plan office spaces, meeting rooms designed to meet a variety of requirements, common spaces such as a modular auditorium, a small amphitheater and a large demo space, research and development laboratories, and a center for technical and management training courses.
Designed to facilitate collaboration and optimize operations, the interior architecture, the spatial distribution, and the furnishing design come together to create a positive effect on both the social relations within the company and on productivity.
A sequence of geometrical forms and colors within the rigorously white spaces provide visual interest while creating environments conceived to foster interaction and privacy, flexibility and fluidity, in a context of maximum connectivity on both a technological and personal level.
