Hotel De Ville Montpellier

The new Hotel de Ville, or city hall, of Montpellier, is located in the district of Port Marianne, in the southern part of the city. Designed by Jean Nouvel and Francois Fontes, it presents itself as an enormous blue monolith on the banks of the river Lez. This monumental and architecturally striking building is surrounded by a large park, from where it dominates the landscape, emphasizing its symbolic role in the rebirth and development of the region. The signature style of the design solutions is particularly evident in the façades, where the careful study of materials, colors and effects of light and shadow complement and emphasize the forms. The glass and metal cladding materials become elements of an expressive language while at the same time making a significant contribution to the technological performance of the building.
The refined plays of color of the façades are echoed in the design of the interiors by Génie des Lieux. Based on the white and blue shades of the architecture, they feature counterpoints in red and yellow in the fitted wall paneling and the flooring, while soft neutral tones were chosen for the workstations. The office furnishings, developed and supplied by Unifor, are enhanced by design and construction solutions that aim for simplicity, function and comfort. The result is a contemporary work environment that is both inviting and personalized.
