Situated in the landmark Clocktower Building in the Dumbo neighborhood of Brooklyn, the design of this loft was inspired by the unique panoramic views of Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Two distinct volumes become the visual and organizational hub of the loft, allowing each space along the perimeter to take advantage of the expansive four exposures of the New York City skyline beyond.

The volumes are materially similar, yet the scale, texture, and pattern of the white oak panels vary to create subtle differentiation and distinct identities. The central volume encloses an entry foyer, a powder room, a guest bath, along with other utility spaces.

The wood panels are shaped to create a vertical raked pattern and a custom door assembly conceals a wet bar. Spaces within the central volume are contrasted with dark materials and minimal, taut details.

The second volume contains the kitchen finished in white materials and marble, and is clad in paneling with the same white oak species, detailed with solid oak battens to create a different texture and rhythm from the other volume.

The concrete ceiling and structure of the historical warehouse are exposed and expressed throughout to highlight the rawness and texture of the building, juxtaposed against the warmer materials, and pure minimal lines of the new elements.

A concrete terrazzo floor and monolithic terrazzo kitchen island, further accentuates the contrast between the shell and the two wood volumes. The perimeter walls throughout the loft are white, intentionally stark against the dark window frames that help reduce glare, while framing the spectacular views.

Oversized pocket doors conceal two private bedroom suites and provide more intimate spaces through the use of wood floors and stone.
