Water is a luxury that many Europeans take for granted, but also one which, paradoxically, they are often willing to pay a lot of money for, if it’s in a certain type of fancy bottle. GROHE, the international bathroom and kitchen fittings specialist has a more naturalistic approach to appreciating this special element, and, with its holistic bathroom solutions, aims to spread ‘pure joy of water’.

Those who cannot imagine what this means should visit Brussels Airlines’ and Lexus’ THE LOFT at Brussels airport. In addition to its exclusive business centre and stylish lounge, guests have six bathrooms at their disposal – equipped with GROHE specials such as the Aquasymphony overhead shower, which combines water with colours and sounds.

But the real innovation here is GROHE’s Essence E. These elegant faucets have long been the best choice for sanitary areas – and not just since the onset of Corona – as they save energy and water, and minimise the build-up of germs and bacteria through contactless functionality, reduced dead space in the tap, regular automatic flushing and thermal disinfection.

Ariane Steinbeck, Managing Director of the renowned interior design studio RPW Design, feels the future lies in contactless technologies – and in the private sector too. In hotel bathrooms, such as those in the Hilton Rotterdam or the Hotel Continental Oslo, they lend an atmosphere of well-being via a clean aesthetic that’s characterised by simplicity, bright colours and clear forms. Sensor-controlled fittings from GROHE, which RPW Design used in the Marriott in Malta, crown the concept.

According to Steinbeck, non-contact faucets will dominate the market in the future, with corners and angles being dispensed of in favour of surfaces that neutralise germs and viruses: ‘I think that development in this direction is enormously important in order to create trust in both communal places as well as in the brands that drive this development forward’. And, as an interior designer, she adds: ‘...done with style, of course!’
