THE FIRM OF DESNY WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1927 BY TWO DESIGNERS, RENÉ NAUNY AND M. DESNET. THEY OPERATED FROM RETAIL PREMISES AT 122 CHAMPS ELYSÉES UNTIL DESNET'S DEATH IN 1933. THEY CREATED LIGHT FITTINGS AND DOMESTIC OBJECTS IN A SOPHISTICATED MODERNIST STYLE, PRINCIPALLY USING CHROME- OR NICKEL-PLATED METALS AND GLASS IN STRONG, PURE FORMS. THE FIRM COLLABORATED WITH NUMEROUS AVANT-GARDE AND FASHIONABLE DESIGNERS AND DECORATORS INCLUDING ROBERT MALLET-STEVENS, DJO BOURGEOIS AND JEAN-MICHEL FRANK.
