Product description
Cini Boeri and Laura Griziotti designed the "Strips" line of furniture in 1972. Large visible zippers made the chair, ottoman, and sofa upholstery easy to remove, and it was even suggested that one might unzip the "Strips" bed cover and sleep under it, using it as a duvet.
Their innovative design won a "Compasso d'Oro" in 1979.
Philip Johnson, who designed the Rockefeller Guest House in New York City for Mrs. John D. Rockefeller III in 1949, resided there with David Whitney in the 1970s. At that time, they used this pair of "Strips" sofas in the living room (see illustration).
