In 1927, together with fellow Hungarian designer Marcel Breuer, Kalman Lengyel founded the "Standard Möbel" firm, which was the first company to produce Breuer's designs. After Breuer left to begin working with Thonet in 1929, Lengyel started his own company, "KaLe Möbel," in Berlin.
