Product description
IN 1994 ARAD WAS INVITED TO CREATE A SPECIAL INSTALLATION IN THE ENTRANCE HALL AT JEAN NOUVEL'S FONDATION CARTIER BUILDING IN PARIS. THE FORTY BLADE-THIN STEEL-TOPPED, HOURGLASS-SHAPED TABLES WERE ARRANGED TO CREATE A NEW REFLECTIVE LEVEL IN THE GALLERY. VISITORS WANDERED AMONG ARAD'S ELUSIVE SHAPES, ENJOYING "THE DAZZLING PUDDLES OF SMOOTH METAL [THAT] DISRUPTED PERCEPTIONS OF THE HEIGHT OF THE SPACE" (DEYAN SUDJIC, RON ARAD, LONDON, 1999, P. 116).
