Product description
Lilly Reich was Mies' girlfriend and collaborator on several early chair designs and Reich is largely credited for the curved lines of the cafe Samt und Seide in the 1927 exhibition "Die Mode der Dame" where early cantilever chairs were exhibited. This cantilever chair form was utilized in the Weisenhoff estate, but the chair design was altered by Mies in the Villa Tugendhat in order for it to be used as a dining chair. The final incarnation was called the Brno chair, and is the form most often seen today. A rare and early chair illustrating the collaboration between Reich and Mies.
