Trained in architecture, Dan Johnson was always interested in interior and furniture design. Having designed furniture for mass production for the Selig Furniture Company, he left to form his own firm, Dan Johnson Studio. The Gazelle furniture was his finest studio design. The chairs were offered in three materials: aluminum, wood and bronze. Produced in Italy, each piece was entirely hand crafted and finished. Due to the high cost of production, fewer than 150 pieces from the Gazelle line were ever produced. After the commercial failure of the Gazelle line, Dan Johnson grew increasingly disillusioned with design and retired from the business. This rare furniture now provides his legacy.
