Product description

The Kem Weber Group from 1928 is a striking example of Art Moderne design. Weber simplified traditional furniture forms and added bold detailing that emphasized the horizontal. He achieved a subtle interplay of color and form by combining his signature "Sage Green" lacquer with delicate touches of silver leaf. The rich walnut frieze with zigzag decoration balances the overall effect of the color treatment and adds spare ornament to the otherwise severe form. The horizontal emphasis and the rounded corners of the lower table anticipate the streamline style that would define the 1930s. A matching serving table from this series is in the collection of The Art Institute of Chicago.
