Mirror from the Turin Exhibition
Vellum, wood, copper, leather, glass
18.75"w x 33.5"h
Bugatti designed several mirrors to compliment his exhibitions and interior commissions. Mirrors by Bugatti illustrate the range of his design talent showing an expertise of material and form. The unconventional use of decoration that nearly overwhelms the mirror illustrates that Bugatti was first concerned with the art, superceding function. Bugatti pursued his personal vision of design, wedding disparate materials and influences which achieve a highly sophisticated art form. Signed in red ink lower left: [Bugatti].
