The French do it better
Trust the French to turn outdoor public seating into its own, enviable cultural form. This is nothing new, of course. Think the grand, flaneur-enticing gardens of 19th-century Paris and their functional-yet-elegant folding chairs – which came to be replaced in the 1920s with a steel design, and which, since the 1990s, have been produced by go-to outdoor-furniture specialists Fermob.
