When it comes to sheer pace of change, few cities' evolutionary story can compare to Shenzhen's. In just four short decades or so, it has been transformed from quiet fishing town into global commercial and tech hub – and China's most affluent megacity. From 27 February to 2 March, the city's importance as a creative centre in the region will also be on full display as it hosts the first-ever Design Shenzhen fair.
Sister to similar shows in Shanghai and Beijing, Design Shenzhen will showcase the best interior, design and technological innovations from an array of international and domestic exhibitors, while presenting a comprehensive and architecturally focused discussion forum around the theme of Regenerative Design, as well as a complementary programme of inspiring exhibits and installations. So, a lot of action over a short period of time – like the story of the city itself.
