Backhausen's 170th anniversary collection consists of a bouquet of designs from the archives of the textile manufactory at the turn of the century. The Art Nouveau designs of renowned artists - most notably Orakelblume (Oracle Flower) by Prof. Koloman Moser from 1901 and the famous Blumengarten (Flower Garden) by Prof. Josef Hoffmann from 1914 - now shine in new bloom, implemented in selected colour palettes and materials.
The names of the patterns - Orakelblume, Blumengarten, Herzblatt, Wellenherz, Herzlaub, Herzblume, Weingarten - conjure up images of flowers and foliage found in a typical Viennese garden.
The hues of the original Vienna Modern designs have been expertly combined with a contemporary colour palette woven into elegant new fabrics.
