We created this collection of lavastone boards in great aspiration and admiration of African textiles. African fabrics have a strong spiritual and historical significance. They represent a form of story telling. The choice of colours, symbols, decoration, composition, threads and processing relate to political and tribal events. The textiles are used as warmth or cover, but also as tools for communication, information and association within communities. Our approach has been to interpret the African Textiles and transform them into our world of ceramics. We have created a new set of patterns with the characteristics of File Under Pop.
