Barrique, the third life of wood
Recycling and recovery . Barrels and people . This is the aim behind “Barrique, the third life of wood”, the project born in 2012 to reinterpret the disused wood which led to the creation of design objects through the wood of the barrels with a capacity of 230 liter. Over 40 world-renowned architects and designers draw the objects, then built by the residents engaged in the carpentry workshop of the community. It is a collection exclusively licensed by San Patrignano in collaboration with Maurizio and Davide Riva. The barrels in French oak are used for aging wine, with a life expectancy of only three years. Thanks to the Barrique project now they can get a new life transformed into chaise longue, chairs, stools, tables and trays. Objects produced in limited series and become elements of a permanent collection that every year is enriched with new creative contributions .
