MORE ABOUT ELLENBERGER
Inspired by designer Jannis Ellenberger the label „ellenberger“ stands for sustainable design and long-lasting furniture. Designed with a lot of sense and sensibility our furniture are manufactured in Upper Franconia, a region with a strong tradition in cabinet making. The wood we use has been grown in nearby forests. Regionally and resource-efficiently crafted we aim to keep climate footprint as low as possible and avoid any unnecessary transportation by delivering our furniture directly from production plant to final customer.
In 2006 Jannis Ellenberger established a studio for product- and interior design in Bremen, which is mainly working on designs of furniture, lighting and accessories and has been collaborating with several national and international brands since. "Creating a warm and quite atmosphere of comfort and ease as a contrast to our fast-paced everyday life is always important to my interior designs." Clear and straight lines and an honest combination of natural materials are essential for his unobtrusive stylistic vocabulary. Amongst others, his designs were award by the renowned iF Product Design Award or Kids Design Award. His Nordic Space bed, originally designed for an american brand, won the European Product Design Award 2017 in Gold and was awarded as Green Product 2018.
Next to offering such design services Jannis Ellenberger realized an own furniture collection. For him design starts with a well thought selection of timber. For the solid wood furniture of his collections he uses wood from South German forests which have been operated sustainably for generations (Spessart, Steigerwald). For those who live and work in these forests this seems to be a matter of course. Subsequently the wood is processed in the same region. The designer values the short communication channels and a dens network of workshops in Upper Franconia. With the wealth of experience of many generations combined with most modern manufacturing technology the furniture are crafted in small batch series. "This direct way of cooperation has extraordinary potential of controlling the complete value creation chain from the very first sketch to the delivery of the furniture to final customer", says Jannis, who points out that it is very important to him to offer the best service possible for very honest prices.
