About Escofet 1886
MORE ABOUT ESCOFET 1886
The Barcelona-based international firm Escofet is a leading company in the moulded architectural concrete market that engages in the design and manufacture of luxury street furniture and lighting fixtures. Its brand and logo convey its long-standing creative strategy, based on contributing value added in shaping urban landscapes and the city.
Continuous innovation, new product development and the definition of new urban elements such as conceptual and material support are the cornerstones of its industrial and creative activity.
Its pioneering strategy of interaction with designers and leadership in generating a new universal vocabulary for urban elements have played a key role in the consolidation of its extensive catalogue of products.
Since it was first established, Escofet has created its products with the invaluable cooperation of the authors who have contributed a large part of what the company has to offer as a brand. Few companies are able to claim the use of design as a management tool in their creative philosophy over a period of 125 years, contributing to building public areas that are more attractive and sustainable.
History
The company was set up in 1886, as a manufacturer of hydraulic paving stones during the Modernist era. More than 125 years of history have converted Escofet into a one hundred per cent Barcelona-based company, not only due to its birth and location but basically because of its participation in the development and growth of the city.
Since the 1970s, Escofet has extended its catalogue to include street furniture, in a bid to create unusual designs in collaboration with reputed professionals such as Enric Miralles or Toyo Ito, both of them trailblazers in the creation of urban space. It is hardly surprising that the prestige of the Escofet brand continues to grow thanks to the combination of three main aspects: the use of the finest materials -basically concrete-, the application of the best technology in its production processes, and its commitment to design as a management tool in the creation of urban elements and landscapes.
