A Février rug is a story of a modern art infused with the traditional expertise to create a truly unique piece.
We aspire to design a rug that is original and personalized without compromising on the quality and aesthetics.
Taking inspiration from his work at the production facility of a renown French brand in Kathmandu added to his undying love for patterns, the designer Florian Pretet along with his partner Lisa Mukhia Pretet came up with Février rugs.
The idea is to replicate his designs into a rug precisely as it is on paper, which is then meticulously hand knotted in the Himalayas following the age-old techniques passed over generations.
Every Février rug is a result of a combined effort of more than 50 people directly involved to create a piece. The designs are mostly hand drawn by the designer, which is then hand knotted in Nepal by expert weavers.
All the procedures from shearing the sheep wool to final cutting and washing are done by hands. The wool used to make the rugs is directly collected from Tibet and the silk used is one of the finest quality brought from China.
The Février rugs also owns is uniqueness to the fact that no machines or chemicals are involved in the production to preserve it authenticity and natural beauty.
The average time to create a rug is between 12 to 16 weeks depending on the pattern and size of the rug.
