Christopher Glanville and Megan Burns

cm studio is an award winning multidisciplinary architecture studio based in Sydney, founded in 2012 by Christopher Glanville and Megan Burns. The studio believes beauty can be found in simplicity. Pared back and elegant, cm studio projects exude warmth and comfort, focusing on natural materials, and layering of tone and texture.
While the studio has a distinct aesthetic, each project is approached objectively. Chris and Megan enjoy working in close collaboration with their clients, approaching each project with a fresh set of eyes in order to create designs that truly reflect the client’s individual style and needs.
Chris and Megan met while studying architecture at Sydney University and founded cm studio soon after graduating. They were approached to work on the Manly Apartment project in late 2011 and used this project to launch the business.
Chris who is now 28 started studying Architecture at Sydney University straight after school. Chris throughout his years studying architecture worked at a firm in Sydney that designed high end residential, he also did a year studying in the USA, these experiences have been invaluable in his early development in the profession. Chris has been fortunate to have many close relationships with architects from a younge age inspiring him to pursue a career in design and architecture. Chris was registered in 2014 and is the nominated architect for cm studio.
Megan who is now 31 studied Fine Arts majoring in Sculpture prior to studying Architecture at Sydney University. Like Chris from a young age Megan was inspired to be an architect. During her years studying sculpture Megan focused on installations and spacial artworks that then led into her practice in architecture. While studying Megan worked at architectural practices that focused on mostly large scale international projects.
Megan and Chris focus on creating simple forms, and layering of natural materials. Their first project as cm studio was a complete apartment renovation, this onto led to more apartment renovations in the following years. While they both studied architecture and have no formal interiors training, it was through these apartment projects they were able to hone their skills in interiors. cm’s first architectural renovation commenced construction in 2015 with the Oatley Project. The studio is currently working on over a dozen architectural houses from alterations and additions to brand new builds.
The way cm approach all their projects is as a holistic approach, interiors and external expression very much intertwined. Megan is now studying landscape design, so cm can soon be integrating that into their services. cm collaborate on many aspects of the project, each project often bringing a new and interesting artisan or professional that brings insight and expertise to their projects.
