Eva Sopeoglou
Profile
Eva Sopeoglou is a multi-award-winning London-based and Greece-based, and former New York-based, architect whose practice overlaps designing and building, academic research and university teaching. Eva's research explores the interaction of humans with the environment both within urban and natural contexts. A recurring theme is the relationship between interior, exterior and semi-enclosed spaces, an often overlooked aspect of space-making which I consider crucial, both in the public and domestic spheres.
She pursues a keen interest in materials, craft and fabrication and a creative engagement with technology informed by a knowledge of architectural engineering, structures and advanced building design. Through an ongoing collaboration with metal fabricator METALSO in Greece they conceive and construct 1:1 prototype enclosures, perforated facades and environmental screens with cutting-edge digital fabrication CAD/CAM technologies.
Eva trained as an architect in Greece and holds a Master of Architecture from Penn Design. She is currently completing a practice-based PhD thesis at The Bartlett UCL. Her professional work and academic research have attracted several international design awards, research grants and scholarships, while the work has been widely published and exhibited internationally.
