About Gabriela Bellon
MORE ABOUT GABRIELA BELLON
Gabriela Bellon, an architect and designer, worked for renowned architectural firms worldwide until she found her place designing furniture and interiors. The native Argentinian graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Cordoba, Argentina, after which she gained experience both as an architect and furniture designer. Furthermore she worked as a lecturer on design. Her furniture collection has been successful and presented at various international design fairs which lead to her eventually founding her own furniture company, Gabriela Bellon Furniture Design, in 2004, bringing her products to the market in Europe and the US. She has lived and worked in Cordoba, Stuttgart, Munich, Sarajevo and La Paz and currently resides in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
For her furniture collection she chose to highlight the materials used: solid wood and stainless steel. These high-class materials are essential to her timeless design. The wood is a sign of solidity and purity as well as sustainability, which is also of major importance to the designer. However, what characterizes her most is the combination of her striving for innovation, her professionalism and her South American traits. Moreover, what she enjoys as a designer is being part of every step of the creation and production of her own pieces. She participates in designing, prototyping, and the final production of each of her designs.
Furthermore, she finds it extremely rewarding to take on the challenges of working with production companies, designers and individuals with different professional backgrounds and enjoys the way everyone can bring their own to the table to create new products and designs
Philosophy
“I want to create furniture that becomes essential beyond changing styles and trends.”
As a designer and architect, I look for the connection between man, object and space. I strive to find a form that represents sincerity whilst at the same time combining flexible solutions with high quality materials.
I find the relationship between a designer and a consumer extraordinary. By letting a design so highly representative of the designer become part of one’s home and everyday life, a line of communication is established. This idea inspires me to create pieces which, beyond mere usefulness, allow themselves to be identified with and become favorites in the home.
