GETAMA was founded in 1899 and specialized in seaweed mattresses in those days. However times change and today, besides spring mattresses and boxsprings, GETAMA also produce a large range of high quality furniture in contemporary design.
For more than 60 years, GETAMA manufactures furniture designed by Hans J. Wegner, an internationally awarded Danish designer. This line of furniture is highly appreciated for its design, quality and durability and has become a collector’s item to many people, and is still a best-seller at Getama.
In the 1990’es GETAMA started collaborating with the internationally renowned architects, Nanna Ditzel, a collaboration that has led to several pieces of upholstered furniture.
In the same period GETAMA developed a range of auditorium seatings, designed by Bernt, MAA, who has also designed an upholstered range of furniture to GETAMA.
Amongst it’s designers GETAMA also counts Nissen & Gehl, OM Design, 2R Design, Blum & Balle, and Jørgen Gammelgaard.
GETAMA has a wide experience in home furnishing and in working on the contract market in Denmark and abroad.
Besides the theater and auditorium seatings, GETAMA has supplied furniture and mattresses to institutions and organisations for many years - among others The Danish Army, Danish Embassies worldwide, dormitories, hotels, restaurants, etc. Reference lists are available.
All GETAMA products are manufactured in Denmark and displayed in the GETAMA showroom at Frederiksgade 1, Copenhagen C.
