HIRAM Habitat

HIRAM Habitat blends design with innovative, natural materials. Our range of planks, wall elements, and terrace decking, crafted from five native woods, offers versatile design possibilities. Unique lengths, refined surfaces, and distinctive structures stem from our deep understanding of local tree species and forests.

Each tree spends 80 to 200 years in the forest before we carefully select and process it. Shaped by its natural environment, every tree carries decades or even centuries of history within its rings. Growth characteristics, structured with cracks, knots, and grain patterns, tell its unique story, making each piece one of a kind and ready for another 200 years of life - as a high-quality floorboard or design element.

We approach the resource of wood with utmost respect and never take it for granted. We honor the individuality of each tree, creating wood products of the highest quality. Our development and production processes are deeply connected to nature and our region. Most of our wood is sourced from the Black Forest and the nearby Vosges. Through our own roundwood trade, we ensure that all our wood comes from sustainably managed forests, where replanting always exceeds harvesting. The roundwood we use is predominantly FSC or PEFC certified. Our employees are in the forest daily, selecting each log based on strict criteria. A humble, grateful, and sustainable approach to nature is central to our philosophy.

After logging, we make full use of the wood, ensuring no part of this valuable resource goes to waste. In our workshops, we create high-quality wooden floors and design elements for sustainable and healthy architecture. Each order is custom-made, and we refine the wood to meet our customers' wishes. With Douglas fir, we achieve exceptional plank lengths of up to 15 meters and widths up to 40 centimeters - a stunning piece of nature that creates a unique spatial experience in large rooms. With silver fir, a rarity from the Black Forest, we produce clean, rift-cut country-style planks. Lye-treated or oiled, the light fir wood provides a subtle foundation for healthy, sustainable, and functional designs.
