Profile
Lindvall A&D is the architecture and design studio of Jonas Lindvall. Jonas was educated as an interior architecture in Gothenburg, Sweden and studied furniture design both at the Royal College of Art in London and Royal Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture in Copenhagen. Upon completion of his studies, he returned to his hometown, Malmö, were he opened his own office in the mid-1990s.
As an architect Jonas Lindvall has created villas, hotels, restaurants and more recently, the interior of Stockholm’s Ersta Kyrka. Notable projects include Villa M2, completed in 2009, which featured in the Swedish-Danish crime series The Bridge and the interior of Gastrologik, a one Michelin star restaurant in Stockholm. As a designer, Jonas Lindvall’s portfolio is equally diverse, ranging from furniture and lighting, to kitchens and bathrooms. Among his most iconic designs to date are his Oak and Papa chairs for Skandiform and the Miss Holly series for Stolab – simple, beautiful concepts with a nod to the Scandinavian modern style. An exponent of traditional craftsmanship, Jonas Lindvall creates new classics that reflect a spirit of modernity, whilst maintaining a profound respect for skills and techniques of the past. This is a theme that is inherent throughout his work, and comes from a tireless curiosity and a passion for history.
Philosophy
“I believe that we live under some kind of resonance law. Surroundings, rooms, furniture and things – they all have an effect on us. In this play, that is our life, the stage has to agree with the way we want to feel – but also affect the way we feel.”
