MORE ABOUT K.P.D.O.
Profile:
K.P.D.O. STRIVES TO FIND THE BALANCE BETWEEN EXUBERANCE AND RESTRAINT.
K.P.D.O. is inspired by designing for people, valuing clear and logical planning, an expressive use of materials and rigorous detailing. Our work is bespoke and unique to each situation, with a return to first principals as the starting point for every project. We don't seek to overwhelm, but aim to compliment so our work creates a productive, enjoyable and harmonious environment.
Kerry Phelan
Director of Interiors
Kerry Phelan established K.P.D.O. in 2010, to focus on bespoke design projects, and with her dynamic team of designers and architects has a stable of notable projects located throughout Australia and Hong Kong.
Kerry was awarded an industry Gold Medal for Lifetime Achievement by her peers in 2016 which has been a driver to maintain her exacting standards.
Kerry is inspired by fashion, the performing and visual arts, and is a frequent visitor to international art fairs. Kerry was recently invited to be a member of the Foundation Board of Heide Museum of Modern Art.
Stephen Javens
Director of Architecture
Stephen is an architect with a particular interest in materiality and the craft of architecture.
Inspired by the great modernists, his design process is to seek clarity through the synthesis of complex issues. He believes clarity of expression creates the opportunity to feel space more deeply. Whether considering the adaptive use of heritage buildings, or new designs, he seeks to create spaces that illicit an emotional response.
Stephen is a past Councilor of the Victorian Institute of Architects, and has been Chair of Jury at Institute awards programs. Stephen was made a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects for pro bono services and contribution to the profession.
