About Limpalux
MORE ABOUT LIMPALUX
With our light objects we oscillate between a clear design language and the “model of nature” with its diverse structures and wide range of shapes. Since 2008 we have been designing light objects with a great love for detail, inspired by the dynamic of organic forms.
The headquarters of the limpalux company are located in Wuppertal. Here the designers Anja Eder and Michael Römer develop the lighting models right through to the start of production. The products are manufactured in collaboration with the suppliers and are “made in Germany”. The historic Kolkmannhaus building houses the final assembly, the shipping and the service facilities for the lamp product line.
The products are marketed in cooperation with lighting designers, architects and selected specialist retailers. In addition, limpalux maintains direct contact with the customers. The lamps can also be purchased via the company’s own online shop as well as at trade fairs catering for the final customers.
Trade fairs: IMM, Cologne / light and building, Frankfurt /
Designers’ Saturday, Langenthal, Blickfang, Basel-Zurich-Vienna
...”Moonjelly” is the first product launched by Anja Eder and Michael Römer under the label “limpalux”, which they co-founded. It is very evident that it is not their first design on paper. The forerunners of the lamps are numerous paper objects that Anja Eder has designed over the past ten years primarily for the art context. Initially using pages taken out of books and later lamellas of different shapes and colours, she varied the principle of the series. With “Moonjelly” the experience drawn from these experiments is consolidated in a product. It comes as no surprise that Eder and Römer immediately won several prizes including the coveted Red Dot Design Award (2009): They have both succeeded in creating a design that plays with the characteristics of paper as a material in an exceptionally sensual way.
