Biography
Lee Penson
Lee Penson is CEO of globally renowned Architecture and Interior Design studio PENSON.
PENSON was set up in London in 2004 to deliver a rewarding life to people in everyday spaces. It’s been no easy feat – Lee started out from a rented bedroom with dodgy carpet in Tooting Bec, then upgraded to offices in Waterloo with some seriously retro computers – before finally settling at a HQ in Shad Thames – and expanding globally to Beijing and New York.
As a recognised industry leader and fastidious perfectionist, Lee has fostered a unique 20-year career delivering creative and corporate programmes to a global client-base. He qualified as an Architect after seven years of combined part time study and working in practice, leading projects nationwide and cross-fertilising real-life with creative vision.
Lee is an expert in benchmarking industry game-changers, developing new operational brands and global design standard programmes for the likes of Accor Group, Google and Jaguar Land Rover. He’s set about transforming enviable projects for the likes of rap star Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Sports Direct and Sony PlayStation.
His quick sense of humour, gregarious, yet say-it-how-it-is fun and out-going gift of the gab often means that he’ll grab anyone’s attention when it comes to discussing design or business. With two first class degrees, a runner-up for the RIBA Bronze Medal, Mixology’s Newcomer of the Year in 06, FX’s International Breakthrough Talent in 07 and a long collection of other gongs since means that his work is highly respected and admired around the world.
Learning through personal experiences, life in Lee’s eyes is far too short and this drives his desire that spaces should make us love life and realise our personal ambitions. Great design should unlock the commercial value of all businesses, whilst making the everyday norm something special for everyone.
Personally, Lee lives life in the fast lane. He’s a renowned restorer, collector and driver of notable historic motor racing cars, a competitive racing yacht owner and when time permits, he loves to ‘jam’ his collection of vintage electric guitars with friends.
Lee is married to Lucy, has a daughter and son, and splits his time between London, Manchester and their farm in Hampshire.
