MORE ABOUT PIXLIP
It all started with lightbox products and the light wall system. In 2008, Cologne-based product designer Lars Backhaus and Karl Lang, who studied Technology and Design in Dessau established Pixlip GmbH, a groundbreaking manufacturer of light modules for architecture and interior design in Duesseldorf.
Their system of using brilliant, graphic backlit LED elements digitally printed onto textile surfaces stretched over stable, easy-to-mount aluminum profiles has now proved its worth as a flexible furnishing element, freestanding room divider or backlit wall surface for offices, kitchens or living rooms, as well as for illuminated displays in shops and showrooms, for trade-fair stands, hotels and restaurants – the business grows and grows and the scope of usage now includes even architecture and exteriors. “These light modules can be produced on demand, in any dimensions and using any motifs,” are Lars Backhaus’ comments on just how successful the idea has been. “They are a bright, customized system solution for both the private and the public sphere, are simple to erect, can be used flexibly and are recyclable.”
